Embodied Sound
This SoundPost comes from the blog post, “Sounds that make me move my mouth”. In the post, I describe the process of filtering audio, and how my mouth tends to move as if producing the sound with the mouth as filter. To be perfectly straightforward here, these sounds are not, as a rule, filtered. They are produced naturally on the violin, using a scratchy bow, and the outcome just sounds filtered! (I have made so far three pieces using sounds from this collection: Rising Blue, Hard Weather Makes Good Wood, and Aquarium.)
Listen to the sound provided below a few times. What happens to your body, your mouth? Tell me about your reaction, in whatever terms you wish, but in particular if and how it makes you move or want to move.
How about another? Same question: does it make you move in any way? Do you have other reactions to relate?
Another? Same prompts…
